How to Grow Your Bowl Lotus from Seeds (Step-by-Step Guide)

Grow your own elegant mini water lotus right on your windowsill or tabletop! Follow these simple steps for the best germination and blooming results.

Step 1: Soak for Germination

Place seeds in a clean container filled with room-temperature water.
Change the water 1–2 times daily to keep it fresh and clean.
Sprouts will typically emerge in 3–7 days.

Step 2: Transfer to Your Hydroponic Bowl

Once sprouts reach 2–4 inches (5–10 cm) and develop small young leaves, carefully transfer them into your display bowl or planter.
Pro Tip: Gently place a few clean pebbles or decorative stones around the seeds to keep them weighted down and prevent floating.

Step 3: Daily Care & Sunlight

Sunlight: Place in a bright, sunny spot. Bowl lotus thrives with plenty of direct sunlight (at least 6+ hours daily).
Water Level: Check regularly and top up water as it evaporates.
Blooming Note: Flower blooming depends on abundant sunlight, warm temperatures, and seed variety. Patience and plenty of sun are key!

Water Care Instructions

Stage 1: First 2–3 Days After Sprouting

Change water once daily with room-temperature water to prevent bad odor and sprout rotting.

Stage 2: Floating Leaves Appear

Change water every 2–3 days. Handle gently to avoid damaging fragile new shoots and roots.

Stage 3: Roots & Full Leaves Established

Top-up only! Simply add fresh water as needed instead of full water changes. (Frequent full changes may slow down root growth).
